MD5 ActiveX DLL

Compute MD5 message digests for strings and files with one method call — no crypto plumbing, no extra runtime.

  • Win32 & Win64
  • Royalty-free
  • No Adobe Acrobat
  • v3.20

Overview

MD5 ActiveX DLL calculates RFC 1321-compliant MD5 message digests for arbitrary text or file content. It is a small COM component for Windows applications and server-side scripts that need a checksum without writing or importing crypto code.

Use it to verify downloads, compare files, create cache keys, sign diagnostic bundles or store content fingerprints. The component returns the familiar 32-character hexadecimal digest.

It is a standalone DLL and works from any COM-capable language, including ASP, PHP, Delphi, VB6, VB.NET and C#.

Features

Key features

  • Generate an MD5 string from a text value or file content.
  • Return standard RFC 1321 128-bit digests.
  • Use from COM-capable desktop and server environments.
  • No runtime or third-party crypto library to deploy.
  • Small installer and a simple two-method API.
  • Works with Win32 and Win64 processes.
  • Supports Windows XP – 11, Windows Server 2003 – 2016 (incl. R2).

Use cases

What you can build

fileHash = obj.GetMD5File("C:\Windows\notepad.exe")

Set obj = Nothing

ASP, PHP, C#, Delphi and ColdFusion examples are included on the legacy product page; the two methods are the same everywhere.

FAQ

MD5 ActiveX DLL questions

Is the output standard MD5?
Yes. The component returns an RFC 1321-compliant 128-bit digest as a 32-character hexadecimal string.
Can it hash large files?
Yes. GetMD5File reads the file content and returns its digest.
Is MD5 still safe for passwords?
No. MD5 is a checksum, not a password-hashing algorithm. Use a dedicated password hash such as Argon2 or bcrypt for credentials.
What is the trial limitation?
In the trial, some hash results are replaced with the string "Trial". A purchased key removes the limitation.
